Oshkosh [OSK] has received a $1.7 billion order from the Army to deliver 6,107 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles ahead of a likely full-rate production decision in December, the company said Wednesday.
This is the Army’s 10th JLTV order since August 2015, with Oshkosh delivering over 2,600 vehicles to date.
“The JLTV is engineered with industry leading suspension and protection systems, as well as the ability to support a spectrum of mission kits and weapon systems required for the modern battlefield,” George Mansfield, Oshkosh’s vice president of joint programs, said in a statement. “This vehicle represents a technological leap forward that provides enhanced protection and extreme mobility both off-road and in dense urban terrain.”
JLTV deliveries under the latest low-rate initial production order are expected to be completed by September 2019.
“The JLTV also features a VICTORY compliant modular, scalable, open architecture system to support rapidly evolving C4ISR suites,” Mansfield said.
