OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has won an $11 million contract from an undisclosed international customs authority for multiple Rapiscan Eagle M4500 high energy cargo and vehicle inspection systems. The company says the bid process was competitive and the contract is one of the largest awarded in the Asia Pacific region in recent years. The purchaser is an existing customer of Rapiscan. The M4500 is a mobile inspection system mounted on a road-worthy commercial truck platform and can be deployed to scan shipping containers and trucks in less than 20 minutes. “We are honored to have been selected to provide scanning equipment at a key government agency,” says Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems’ CEO. “The Rapiscan Eagle M4500 is capable of inspecting trucks and shipping containers for manifest verification and identification of a wide range of threats including narcotics, weapons and contraband.” He also says the contract provides the company with “strategic reference sites to leverage our marketing and sales efforts.”
