PCS-Mosaic on Tuesday said it has acquired four businesses from Arctic Slope Research Corp.
(ASRC) Federal’s Defense and Intelligence Group to form a new business unit called Athenix, which significantly expands the company’s work with the intelligence community (IC).
Terms of the deal were not disclosed although ASRC Federal is acquiring an equity stake in PCS-Mosaic. The acquisitions about doubled the size of PCS-Mosaic to 400 employees.
The acquisitions of ASRC’s OSI LLC, Agency Consulting Group LLC, Kimmich Software Solutions LLC, and ExaTech Solutions are the first by PCS-Mosaic since the company was formed two years ago through the acquisitions of Mosaic Technologies Group and Visual Awareness Technologies & Consulting.
The Athenix Cyber & SIGINT Solutions business is based in Columbia, Md., home to the Defense Department’s National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command.
“PCS-Mosaic has taken another important step in building a mid-tier, pure-play contractor of scale, substance and focus that can better serve customers at the pointy end of the spear in the intelligence, cyber, and special operations domains with agility and ingenuity,” Pierre Chao, chairman of PCS-Mosaic, said in a statement. “PCS-Mosaic is committed to providing ongoing resources and capital to continue the growth of this new business unit, with the goal of addressing our customers’ most critical national security needs.”
Tom Middleton, PCS-Mosaic’s CEO, said that the acquisitions give the company “critical mass, past performance and a pipeline of opportunities” for future growth in the intelligence sector. He also said the added size creates professional development opportunities for employees.
PCS-Mosaic, which is based in Fulton, Md., near Columbia, said it will continue to pursue mergers and acquisitions focused on technology and capabilities to support the intelligence and Special Operations Forces communities.
