The Defense Department yesterday notified Congress of a potential $390 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Jordan of Increment 2 of the Border Security Program which is being managed by DRS Technologies [DRS].
The Pentagon said that the sale would allow Jordan to rely more on technology rather than manual means to secure its borders. The announcement, which was made by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, said the proposed sale will include “exportable Commercial-Off-The-Shelf hardware and exportable United States Command and Control application software and hardware, spare and repair parts, support equipment, publications and technical documentation, U.S. government and contractor technical support, and other related elements of program support.”
Earlier this year DRS was selected by the Army for the Jordanian Border Security Program (Defense Daily, May 20). No contract value was given at the time.
