Requirements, affordability, and better buying power initiatives from the Defense Department and the Army are moving Program Executive Office Combat Support and Combat Service Support (PEO CS&CSS) to implement ways for the office to be more efficient and effective, an official said.
“As we have focused on these initiatives, it has caused us to assess our organization to identify ways to be more efficient and to better manage our systems by portfolios, thus resulting in better alignment of programs and management of our systems from a fleet perspective,” said Kevin Fahey, program executive officer, CS&CSS.
Based on these assessments, some offices within PEO CS&CSS will transition across the PEO for greater portfolio alignment and maximum efficiency.
The Product Manager, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) will transition under the leadership of Project Manager, Tactical Vehicles effective Aug. 15 with a permanent transition on Oct. 1.
This shift will align the Army’s Tactical Wheeled Vehicle (TWV) programs under one PM office, ensuring synergy between the Humvee program and the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), and enable better fleet management of light tactical vehicles consistent with the Army approved TWV Strategy.
Additionally, the Product Manager (PM), Armored Security Vehicles (ASV) and Product Director, Non-Standard Vehicles (NSV) will transition from PM Tactical Vehicles and PM Force Projection, respectively, to PM Joint Combat Support Services (PM JCSS) effective Oct. 1.
The ASV and NSV programs are primarily focused on providing equipment and capability to the Afghanistan national army and Security Forces. The alignment of ASV and NSV under PM JCSS will ensure a focused and consolidated approach to providing capability to the Afghanistan National Army consistent with the U.S. policy.
The PEO CS&CSS directs and coordinates the efforts of four Project and 17 Product Managers in managing the life cycles of more than 350 Army systems, including several joint service programs.
