LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Arch Mission Foundation today announced a new partnership with Xplore, a privately-funded commercial space company focused on the scientific exploration of our solar system. As part of the partnership, future Xplore missions will carry specially designed Arch Libraries that will continue to expand the Arch Mission Foundation’s Billion Year Archive™.

The Billion Year Archive™ is a solar system-wide collection of Arch Libraries that will preserve, connect, and share humanity’s knowledge for billions of years, and serve as a backup of planet Earth. The partnership with Xplore will further the Arch Mission Foundation’s goal of disseminating these archives across time and space. The non-profit foundation continues to partner with space programs and launch operations to distribute Arch Libraries™ as widely as possible.

Previous Arch Libraries include the Lunar Library, established on the Moon earlier this year, the Orbital Library placed on satellites around Earth, and the Solar Library, which was launched onboard Elon Musk’s Telsa launched into space in early 2018. The Arch Libraries contain various content, but are made up of foundational analog layers etched at microscopic scale that include resources such as the Wikipedia and millions of books, images, documents, data sets and even software. It also includes collections from Project Gutenberg and the Internet Archive, and the Long Now Foundation Rosetta and PanLex datasets, which provide a linguistic key to 5000 languages with 1.5 billion cross-language translations.

Starting in 2021 Xplore will launch its commercial science expeditions to the Moon, Mars, Venus and Near-Earth Asteroids. Xplore conducts mission planning, spacecraft engineering, communications and operations for national space agencies, companies and research organizations on their fleet of advanced exploration spacecraft.
