SRI International Awarded Contract to Support U.S. Army Integrated Visual Augmentation System

PR Newswire

MENLO PARK, Calif., April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — SRI International has received an award to deliver digital night vision camera prototypes to support the U.S. Army’s IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System) program. The award was issued by SOSSEC, Inc. on behalf of the Night Vision and Electronic Sensor Directorate (NVESD). In support of the program, SRI will design a low-light-level CMOS image sensor and integrate the device into a custom camera module optimized for low size, weight and power (SWAP).

SRI will design a low-light-level CMOS image sensor for digital night vision camera prototypes to support the U.S. Army’s IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System) program.

“The IVAS program is a tremendous opportunity for SRI International to demonstrate solid-state low-light-level imaging technology in a low-SWAP camera module that can enhance a warrior’s situational awareness,” said Colin Earle, associate director, Imaging Systems, SRI International. “SRI has been steadily advancing the low-light-level performance of night vision CMOS (NV-CMOS®) image sensors and we are pleased that the IVAS program will incorporate our fourth generation NV-CMOS imagers.”

The Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) is designed to incorporate head, body, and weapon technologies on individual soldiers. It is a single platform that the warfighter can use to fight, rehearse, and train that provides increased lethality, mobility, and situational awareness necessary to overmatch current and future adversaries. The system includes squad-level combat training capability, for repeated iterations of training and rehearsals.
