RAE Systems [RAE] says its AreaRAE toxic gas and radiation sensor network was deployed at both the Guam and Oregon TOPOFF 4 terrorism preparedness exercises held last fall that involved a response to a dirty bomb event. The equipment deployed included the wireless sensor networks with ProRAE Remote 3.0 enabling the first responders to use GPS locations as well as topological map exposure patterns to plan their response. Real time data was available to all responders over secure internet connections. Other equipment that was part of the sensor network included AreaRAE Steel monitors with radiation and toxic gas detection capability and PlumeRAE for toxic cloud measurement and tracking. GammaRAE II personal radiation monitors and LifeShirt monitors for tracking the well being of the responders were also used.
