Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Wednesday said it would display the Toplite EOS Electro-Optic (E/O) surveillance, reconnaissance and weapon direction system with its new imaging processing capabilities at the Land Warfare Conference in Brisbane, Australia at the end of the month.
“We are pleased to offer our customers the superior imaging capabilities of our Toplite EOS and those, together with complete commonality between the land and naval systems, would make it a particularly cost effective system for the AWD [Air Warfare Destroyer] and other programs in Australia and New Zealand,” Yoram Walfisch, the company’s director for business development in the Far East and Oceania, said in a statement.
Toplite EOS is a combat proven, highly stabilized, electro-optic system that is derived from the well-known Litening airborne targeting and navigation pod.
The upgrade comprises additional image processing capabilities built into the system that provide extra added value, such as additional improvement of image quality, image enhancement applications, as well as situational awareness and command and control capabilities, Rafael said.
The enhanced Toplite software-based application provides even higher digital image stabilization above and beyond the current highly stabilized optic-mechanical platform.
The improved image processing capacity offers real-time (RT) live video mosaic, RT panoramic construction, orientation within the panoramic view, automatic moving-target detection, super-resolution (improved digital zoom) and passive/active coordinate extraction with an option for integration with a moving map.
Toplite EOS also includes an option for obstacle avoidance display, turbulence compensation and single-camera stereoscopic video display, the company added.
Toplite EOS is designed for land, sea and airborne applications and is operational in over 20 armed forces worldwide.
Currently there are dozens of Toplite systems operating in the Royal Australian Navy with comprehensive ILS support services and sites located throughout Australia, Rafael added.
