Raytheon [RTN] has acquired Technology Associates, Inc. (TA), a small privately-owned firm specializing in life-cycle computer engineering for programs in the U.S. Intelligence community, boosting its capabilities in cyber security. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Northern Virginia-based TA had $21.3 million in sales last year, $18.9 million in 2008 and $15.6 million in 2007. Raytheon said the deal would be immaterial to its sales and earnings this year. TA’s core capabilities are in data extraction and analysis, digital media intercept and exploitation, embedded system programming, and information assurance services. TA will become part of Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems (IIS) sector. Preston Harrelle, TA’s president, will stay with Raytheon to lead business operations and also take on a broader role in cyber strategy across IIS’ product line. TA has 110 employees.
