Raytheon [RTN] says it will provide a team of first responders and hospital personnel in Long Beach, Calif., an electronic patient tracking system (EPTS) for use during a mass casualty event. Raytheon says the EPTS facilitates the triage, treatment and transport of victims by providing selected patient data to all involved parties, improving continuity of care and family notification response time. The system uses barcode and radio frequency identification tags to identify the patient’s location, medical status and personal information, which is wirelessly transferred to a secure Raytheon-hosed, Web-enabled database that provides the information to hospitals and emergency personnel. The system includes data interoperability tools and services provided by DropFire, Inc.
