Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) has been appointed to the House Armed Services Committee to replace Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), who recently resigned from Congress.
Hice, a long-time minister, has been a congressman since in 2015. He represents part of Fort Gordon, home to Army Cyber Command.
“I’m eager to get to work on the most urgent security matters facing America, including combating terrorism, rebuilding and modernizing our military, and securing the homeland,” Hice said in a statement Jan. 11.
Franks, a leading congressional advocate for missile defense, announced his resignation in December, citing a House Ethics Committee investigation into his discussions with two female aides about surrogacy.
