Saab AB received an order for explosive training artillery ammunition worth nearly $14 million, the company said on May 19.
Delivery of the material is to take place during 2015-2016.
The company explained that due to circumstances concerning the product and customer, information about the customer would not be announced.
The work order is to be performed by a Saab subsidiary, Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland (SBDS). This consists of the manufacture and delivery of explosive training artillery grenades.
The work also includes conversion of live rounds into training rounds with SBDS performing the technical alteration, the filling of the target marketing and explosive components, and the final assembling, Saab said.
“This order is an endorsement of Saab’s world-class munitions facility in Switzerland, which provides products and services for business partners and Armed Forces around the world,” Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, said in a statement.
“This order is completely in line with our strategy to strengthen and extend our range of services. We have a well-proven track record of fulfilling a wide range of national and international service contracts within the field of munitions, the respective components and explosives,” Stephan Kocher, head of Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland, said.
SBDS is based in Thun, Switzerland.
