Sweden’s defense and security company Saab on Oct. 10 said an unidentified military customer ordered components for the Carl Gustaf man-portable weapons system.
The order for the 84mm recoilless rifle is for system components and is valued at $66.8 million, with an option for additional orders worth about $17.5 million.
The components are comprised of ammunition for the latest Carl-Gustaf system.
“Carl-Gustaf is a world leading system and a key component of armed forces throughout the world. With each new model the demand for the system increases in many strategic markets. The Carl-Gustaf system has been sold to over 40 countries,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area.
The Carl-Gustaf system is a highly modern Ground Support weapon system with a long and successful history. The system has successively been modernized and adapted to meet new requirements. With the latest version Carl-Gustaf M3, Saab offers state-of-the-art capability for customers demanding high operational reliability in all conflict situations.
Deliveries will take place during 2013 and 2014.
