Sweden’s Saab on Sept. 3 said it is creating a new business area that will combine its Aerostructures and Avionics business units as well as a technical consulting arm and ventures portfolio.
Saab said the Industrial Products and Services business area will have a business-to-business focus. The company’s five other business areas typically work with government or national authority end-users, the company said.
Aerostructures is currently part of the Aeronautics business area while Avionics is part of Electronic Defense Systems. The new business area will also include the independent technology, development and management consultancy Combitech, which is currently a separate business area, as well as Saab Ventures, which is part of the corporate office.
As for changes in the company’s management, Saab said that Lennart Sindahl, who is currently deputy CEO and head of Aeronautics, will become full-time deputy CEO. Ulf Nilsson, who is head of Gripen within Aeronautics, will now be head of Aeronautics and a member of Saab’s group management.
Industrial Products and Services will be led by Dan Jangblad, who is currently the company’s chief strategy officer and a member of Saab’s group management. Jonas Hjelm, currently head of Market Area Americas, will lead the Support and Services business area, replacing Lars-Erik Wige, who is becoming a senior adviser to CEO Hakan Buskhe and leaving the group management.
