The Safariland Group yesterday said it has acquired certain assets from Lithuania’s Arveka TGS, a designer and manufacturer of body armor and personal protection equipment, growing its international business and boosting its product offerings.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Safariland is owned by the security consulting firm Kanders & Co., which bought the business from Britain’s BAE Systems last year (Defense Daily, May 3, 2012).
Arveka, which has 17 employees, makes protective products for law enforcement and military customers. Arveka’s management will remain with the company.
“We were extremely impressed with the depth and quality of the proprietary products Arveka TGS had designed for their line of body armor products, which is why we pursued this acquisition,” Scott O’Brien, president of The Safariland Group, said in a statement.
Safariland, which is based in Florida, said that customer requirements outside of its core United States market are different and expects Arveka’s products and manufacturing assets will allow it to serve these markets more quickly and efficiently.
Safariland makes law enforcement and security products for the public safety, military and outdoor and personal protection markets.
