SAIC [SAI] yesterday said that it has elected Thomas Young as non-executive chairman of its board of directors, succeeding Ken Dahlberg, who retired last Friday.
Young, who has been on SAIC’s board of directors since 1995 when he retired from Lockheed Martin [LMT] as an executive vice president, assumed his chairmanship duties on June 18. Most recently, Young was the board’s independent lead director. Young will continue to serve as a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee and the finance committee on SAIC’s board.
Before Lockheed Martin merged with Martin Marietta, Young was president and chief operating officer of Martin Marietta from 1990 to 1995.
“With his knowledge of our business and leadership experience, he will help guide us through our next phase of growth,” Walt Havenstein, SAIC’s CEO and board member, said in a statement.
