Science Applications International Corp. [SAIC] on Monday said it is forming five new business groups in place of its current operating structure of two business sectors, whose leaders will be departing the company in early 2024.

The company said the new flatter structure will improve “customer intimacy” and help drive organic growth.

The restructuring comes as the company’s new CEO, Toni Townes-Whitley, continues to make her mark. During the company’s third quarter earnings call last week, she highlighted organic growth as a top priority (Defense Daily

, Dec. 5).

The new business groups are Army, Navy, Air Force and Combatant Commands, Space and Intelligence, and Civilian. Currently, Michael Larouche heads the National Security and Space Sector, and Bob Genter leads the Defense and Civilian Sector. Both executives are leaving by Feb. 2, 2024, to pursue other opportunities, SAIC said.

The Army group will be led by Josh Jackson, Navy by Barbara Supplee, Air Force and Combatant Commands by Vinnie DiFronzo, and Space and Intelligence by David Ray. All four executives are current SAIC senior vice presidents.

SAIC is conducting an external search for a “strong best-of-market leader” to head the Civilian group and “drive significant organic growth,” SAIC said.

“SAIC has an unmatched history of partnering with our nation’s most critical mission-drive government customers and offering a best-in-class portfolio of capabilities,” Townes-Whitley said in a statement. “As we look ahead, we are becoming a more focused and growth-oriented SAIC that realizes the full potential of our differentiators, fueled by our innovation factory. This builds upon our recent decision to centralize our business development function to prioritize the quality and pace at which we execute our market opportunities.”
