Second Front Systems, a software firm that helps other companies deliver software solutions to government and national security customers, has closed a $40 million Series B funding round that raises total investments in the company to $80.1 million.

The latest funding round was led by the venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates

(NEA) with current investors Moore Strategic Investors and HorizonX, the venture capital platform of the private equity firm AE Industrial Partners formed in partnership with Boeing [BA]. Moore and HorizonX led an $32 million Series A round in Second Front that closed in late 2022.

The funding will be used to accelerate Second Front’s software platform across classified networks and more security regimes. Second Front’s Game Warden solution is a DevSecOps platform helps clients quickly accredit their software for government use, allowing them to work with the Defense Department and other customers.

“Deploying software to government purchasers has historically been a challenging, expensive, and time-consuming process, so much so that many companies have shied away from doing so altogether,” Aaron Jacobson, partner at NEA, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to lead this investment in Second Front because they thoroughly and instantly change the landscape for business-to-government focused organizations, allowing them to bring software to the government market within days, not years.”

Jacobson will joint Second Front’s board. The company has nearly 100 employees and has grown more than 300 percent in the past year. In addition to the U.S. government, the company has international customers in the United Kingdom, Australia, and NATO. Second Front was also recently selected by the Air Force’s AFWERX Prime to support an autonomy program, the company said.

“By removing the complexity from deploying and consuming commercial software across the public sector, we’re transforming the relationship between two critical communities while improving national security,” Tyler Sweatt, Second Front’s CEO, said in a statement.
