The Senate on Thursday confirmed by voice vote two Obama administration nominees for key positions at the White House Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Anne Rung was confirmed to be the administrator for OMB’s Office of Federal Procurement Policy, which helps shape the policies and practices used by federal agencies in procuring good and services.
Rung previously was the chief acquisition officer at the General Services Administration.
Joseph Nimmich, a former Coast Guard Admiral and director of maritime surveillance and security with a business of Raytheon [RTN], will become deputy administrator of FEMA.
“He has significant field experience during his more than three decades of service in the United States Coast Guard and a steep knowledge of regional emergency response coordination,” Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said in a statement.
