The Senate will vote on two minibus appropriations bills to fund all 12 funding bills Dec. 19, the top Republican said Dec. 18.
“Tomorrow we’ll vote on government funding bills the House passed yesterday,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). “A lot of hard work brought this appropriations process back from the brink.”
The House on Tuesday passed H.R. 1158, the national security minibus containing over $860 billion in funding bills for defense, commerce-justice science, homeland security and financial services and general government, by a vote of 280-138 with 12 members not voting (Defense Daily, Dec. 17).
H.R. 1865, the minibus including domestic and international assistance appropriations, was also passed Tuesday by a vote of 297-120, with 13 lawmakers not voting.
The Thursday vote will ensure the government is fully funded through Sept. 30, 2020, as the current continuing resolution is scheduled to run out Dec. 20.
The bills are expected to easily pass the Senate and be sent quickly to President Trump for signature into law.
