Britain’s Serco Group has completed its $20 million acquisition of U.S.-based BTP Systems in a deal that deepens its expertise in satellite communications and radar engineering services.
The deal was first announced last October. BTP, which is based in Massachusetts, had about $20 million in sales in 2017 and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of about $3 million.
BTP will be integrated within the C5ISR business unit of Serco’s U.S. operations. Serco said the acquisition supports its growth plan in the U.S. defense market with C5ISR service offerings and support for federal government clients.
“This acquisition is about building on the scope, breadth, and scale of work that our company can now offer and support in the growing C5ISR market,” Dave Dacquino, chairman and CEO of Serco, Inc., the North American business of Serco Group, said. “By combining the skills of Serco and BTP Systems, we now deliver expanded C5ISR services supporting naval modernization and sustainment for ship, shore, and hardware integration projects.”
BTP’s key customers include the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, the Naval Supply Systems Command, and Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The company has operations and personnel in Newport, R.I., Reno, Nev., San Diego, Charleston, S.C., Groton, Conn., Norfolk and Chesapeake, Va., and Mayport, Fla.
