ShotSpotter, Inc., yesterday said it has acquired the acoustic gunshot detection product line from QinetiQ North America (QNA), making it the sole market leader in acoustic gunshot detection systems.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ShotSpotter acquired the operating assets, technology, and customer list of QNA’s SECURES products business, which provides localization of gunfire for response by law enforcement and other first responders. ShotSpotter also serves the law enforcement community and its Gunshot Location System is currently in use with the United States military in Iraq. ShotSpotter said its system is deployed in 35 municipalities and counties across the country.
ShotSpotter said the deal extends its reach into key customer markets and allows it provide more holistic solutions.
QNA is the United States’ based division of Britain’s QinetiQ.
