The Army’s program office for Force Protection Systems has awarded Sim-G Technologies a six-year, potential $352 million prime contract, the Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) IV contract, which will allow agencies to acquire physical security systems and services. The purpose of the ICIDS program is to provide a standard configuration for all military installations, inside and outside the U.S., for a detection system used to monitor designated areas and facilities. ICIDS IV consists of commercial off-the-shelf equipment, including interior and exterior sensors, primary monitor consoles, remote status monitors, remote area data collectors, CCTVI, and entry control equipment. Sim-G’s teammates and their responsibilities on ICIDS IV are: the DRS Technologies division of Italy’s Finmeccanica, which will help with installation and sustainment of equipment; ICx Technologies [ICXT], which will also help with installation and sustainment; L-3 Communications [LLL], which will provide surge expertise for fielding in and out of the U.S., and will also help with technology evaluation and the laboratory strategy of the program; General Dynamics [GD] and Battelle, who will both assist with the Mobile Detection Assessment and Response System, which is a robotic system used for intrusion detection, as well as future integration of the Guardian chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection program; and LESCO, which will develop the technical manuals and test and training documentation. DRS through its acquisition of Radian in 2002, is the prime on ICIDS III. ICx, which is a key player on ICIDS III, tells TR2 that it will continue to provide the same equipment on ICIDS IV but will do a “significantly higher percentage of the integration and installation work.” Sim-G is a veteran-owned small business.
