Space Exploration Technologies’ (SpaceX) Dragon spacecraft landed in the Pacific Ocean yesterday at around 11:42 a.m. EST, according to a company statement.
The vehicle will now be recovered by boats and make its voyage back to land, according to a statement.
SpaceX made history last week when it became the first commercial enterprise to send a spacecraft into space and attach it to the International Space Station (ISS). Previously, only four governments had attained such a feat: the United States, Japan, Russia and the European Union’s space agency.
This is SpaceX’s second demonstration flight under a 2006 Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) agreement with NASA to develop the capability to carry cargo to and from the ISS, according to a statement.
