SRCTec yesterday said it has been awarded a potential $221 million contract from Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., to begin full-rate production of the AN-TPQ-50 counterfire radar system, known as the LCMR (V)3. The initial award is $58 million.

“We are excited to begin full-rate production of the LCMR (V)3,” said Drew James, president of SRCTec. “This initial order demonstrates the high level of support in the Army for this important program. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the Army on an important program for our warfighters.”
The LCMR (V)3 system provides significant performance improvements over its predecessors and has added features required for evolving combat operations, the company said in a release.
Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said, “This is another great win for SRC. The Defense Department has once again turned to one of Central New York’s most innovative companies when it comes to protecting our troops on the battlefield And for the over 100 workers at SRCTec who work on manufacturing a quality product, ensuring the Army has the best technology available to them.”
SRCTec has manufactured and delivered more than 500 LCMR systems to the Army.
The system has proven to be exceptionally effective at providing early warning and location of the rocket and mortar threats facing troops. The original LCMR system was a recipient of the U.S. Army’s Top Ten Greatest Inventions award, which recognizes the Army’s inventions in science and technology that demonstrate a significant impact to Army capabilities and overall inventiveness
