The State Department on Wednesday said it has approved a potential $281 million foreign military sale to Germany of high-frequency, very-high frequency, and ultra-high frequency radios and related equipment supplied by L3Harris Technologies [LHX].

Notification of the proposed sale of the manpack tactical AN/PRC-117 and AN/PRC-160 radios was delivered to Congress by the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The company’s Global Communications, Inc. business unit in Rochester, N.Y., is leading the effort.

The sale would also include spare and repair parts, support equipment, test and diagnostic equipment, training, and logistics support.

In 2023, L3Harris reported international sales of $4.2 billion, accounting for 21 percent of total revenue.

The State Department said the sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by improving the security of Germany, a NATO ally. It also said the radios would improve interoperability between Germany and other NATO forces.
