The State Department Monday evening said it has approved a potential $908 million foreign military sale (FMS) to the Netherlands for 120 AGM-158B/B-2Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles-Extended Range (JASSM-ER) and related equipment.
The long-range precision strike JASSM-ER is supplied by Lockheed Martin [LMT].
In addition to the 120 JASSM-ERs, the potential FMS includes 15 AGM-158 inert JASSM-ER all-up-rounds with test instrumentation kits, two JASSM separation test vehicles, one JASSM instrumented test vehicle, two JASSM jettison test vehicles, JASSM dummy air training missiles and containers, KGV-135A encryption devices, and various test, support, and spares.
The Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency on Monday notified Congress of the potential sale.
The proposed JASSM-ER sale follows on the heels of another potential FMS to the Netherlands valued at $150 million for 386 Hellfire AGM-114R2 air-to-ground missiles that was announced last Friday. The Hellfire is also supplied by Lockheed Martin.
So far in 2024, the State Department has approved more than $33 billion in potential FMS deals, the largest a proposed $23 billion sale to Turkey for F-16 fighters, related electronics, and missiles and munitions. In fiscal year 2023, FMS notifications hit a record $80.9 billion, up nearly 60 percent over FY ’22.
