The State Department has approved a potential $2.9 billion deal with Germany for the sale of nearly 1,000 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM).
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress on Wednesday of the new foreign military sale.
Along with the 969 RTX [RTX]-built AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles, the deal also includes 12 AMRAAM C8 guidance sections and captive air training missiles.
“The proposed sale will improve Germany’s capability to meet current and future threats by ensuring they have modern, capable air-to-air munitions. This sale will further advance the already high level of German Air Force interoperability with U.S. joint forces and other regional and NATO forces,” the DSCA said in a statement.
