Sypris Electronics, LLC, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., this week announced it is developing an International Cyber Range for use by the U.S. and its partners.
The range would conduct realistic assessments of cyber warfare scenarios in a representative network environment with the objective of accelerating revolutionary advances in cyber security and cyber warfare initiatives.
The cyber range, expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2011, will provide governments with a secure environment in which to test network and system attack-and- defend strategies, allowing them to test, evaluate and train for next generation threats, similar to traditional weapon ranges.
Sypris expects to leverage support from globally recognized universities and cyber experts, as well as to utilize cutting edge tools and techniques, to provide a high-caliber, next generation test-bed service for the advancement of global cyber security research.
By the end of 2011, Sypris expects to open the International Cyber Range to users in adjacent markets, such as large financial institutions that wish to protect their critical infrastructure.
“Our International Cyber Range will provide a real-world simulation environment for organizations to develop, test and deploy advanced strategies in cyber attack, defense, neutralization and resiliency,” said John Walsh, president of Sypris Electronics. “The Sypris cyber range will be an international training ground for global users to access hands-on cyber security training and host real-time cyber war games in a secure, clean environment. By the end of 2011, our plan is to open the cyber range to users in adjacent markets, such as large financial institutions and teams that protect their critical infrastructure.”
