Vision-Box Deploys Automated Border Control System at Danish, Brazil Airports
Copenhagen Airport recently inaugurated an Automated Border Control system developed and deployed by Vision-Box to allow passengers departing to or arriving from the Schengen Area to clear immigration in the same hall using a unique bank of self-service eGates. Vision-Box says that European Union citizens 18 years old and above, holding an electronic passport and flying out or into the Schengen area will be using nine Automated Border Control eGates to cross the border. Denmark’s Biometric Solutions worked with Vision-Box on the deployment. The company also says the new solution is the first of its kind to process departing and arriving passengers and as such the new eGates allow for the Danish police, in charge of passenger control and risk management at the airport, to dynamically operate touchpoints by switching the flow according to the predicted volume of passengers entering or exiting the Schengen area. Separately, Vision-Box says a new Automated Border Control solution designed for Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is almost ready to go live. The self-service solution will validate a passengers’ passports, capture a live facial photo and compare the image store in the ship of the passengers’ passport against the live one to make sure that they are the owner of the documents. The system is also connected to the Federal Police SATI back end system that checks each transaction and guarantees that all passengers going through the process are not of interest.

Aware Introduces FIDO Certified Product Suite for Mobile Facial Biometric Authentication
Aware, Inc. [AWRE] has introduced FIDO Suite, a family of software products that enable secure biometric authentication on mobile devices using facial “selfie” images. The first three products in the suite achieved certification in the three FIDO Universal Authentication Framework categories required in a complete solution: server; client; and authenticator. Certification was earned in part by achieving interoperability with products from other vendors at the most recent testing event sponsored by the FIDO Alliance. “FIDO’s broad industry support makes it the most promising path to ending our reliance on passwords for online authentication, and facial biometrics will plat a major role,” says David Benini, vice president of Marketing at Aware. The FIDO Suite products include FIDO Face Authenticator, FIDO Client, and FIDO Server.
