Analogic’s New CT Screening System Can Be Demonstrated following TSA Certification
Analogic [ALOG] says the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has certified the company’s computed tomography-based checkpoint screening system, ConneCT, clearing the way for the carry-on baggage screener to begin testing at airport checkpoints in the U.S. The agency is already testing CT-based checkpoint systems offered by L3 Technologies [LLL] and Integrated Defense & Security Solutions at airports in the U.S. to potentially replace Advanced Technology X-Ray systems for screening carry-on bags. The CT-based system offer automated threat detection and the opportunity to enable TSA to allow passenger to eventually leave their liquids and personal electronic devices in their bags. Analogic says ConneCT features an open-platform system, enabling the third party software developers to create new applications to address new threats, something TSA would like to see. Earlier this summer Analogic scored a contract from American Airlines to purchase some ConneCT systems, its first award for the technology.
Vision-Box Introduces On-the-Move Facial Recognition System
Vision-Box has launched a new on-the-move facial recognition system for border control and passenger identification to provide airlines, airports and government stakeholders with a capability to rapidly identify travelers without inhibiting passenger flow. The company introduced Seamless Totem at AFCEA’s Federal Identity Forum in Washington, D.C., noting that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is deploying facial recognition technology to verify the departures of travelers on outbound international flights. CBP also plans to re-engineer the arrivals process for international flights to include facial technology to identify travelers as they approach agency booths in airports. Vision-Box says the new system can also be used in other applications, such as check-in and enrollment, and for border control at land and sea ports. The company says the high-end camera system provides biometric capture quality and face recognition at short or long-range to follow travelers as they move.
HID Global Introduces New Identity and Access Management Solution
HID Global has introduced HID Crescendo Temporary Access Card, a new standards-based identify and access management (IAM) system solution for government agencies to comply with the mandate to improve physical access and digital identity security and give visitors a more secure credential to enter government buildings. The temporary access card has the same level of security as the standard government issued PIV and PIV-I cards used by all U.S. government employees. HID Global, an ASSA ABBLOY company, says the new credential provides more security than current visitor cards, and is harder to be cloned.
