CLEAR Lands at Sacramento International Airport
CLEAR is now offering its identity and expedited security screening services to its members in Terminal A at Sacramento International Airport in California. The company says its biometric-based touchless travel experience is located in 37 airports and 55 venues nationwide. CLEAR confirms travelers using iris recognition, eliminating the need for them to hand their travel documents to a Travel Document Checker during the security screening process. “CLEAR’s technology brings speed and safety to Sacramento International Airport at a time when innovation is needed most to best serve our customers,” says Cindy Nichol, director of Airports, Sacramento County Airport System. “We look forward to CLEAR bringing touchless travel to our airport passengers and elevating their experience.”
Aware Fingerprint Technology Ranks High in NIST Evaluation
Aware, Inc. [AWRE] say its is one of only five companies to have successfully complete the Proprietary Fingerprint Template (PFT) III evaluation performed by the National Institute of Standards of Technology, ranking third for single fingerprint and second for multiple finger fusion. Aware says the accomplishment, combined with the company’s top ranking in NIST’s MINEX III evaluation, “asserts its status as the pre-eminent 1:1 fingerprint matcher and template generator vendor in the world.” The PFT III evaluation tested speed and accuracy of fingerprint templates used in one-to-one matching. “Top level performance and accuracy are critical elements of any fingerprint matching solutions, and Aware’s completion of the PFT III evaluation continues to solidify our position amongst the elite in the industry,” says Dr. Mohamed Lazzouni, chief technology officer at Aware.
Thales, Inetum Deliver Automatic Border Control Gates at Spanish Airports
Thales says it and its partner Inetum have provided more than 45 automatic border control gates that use facial recognition and automatic document verification at the airports of Valencia and Bilbao in Spain. The companies are in the process of installing 36 more gates at Fuerteventura airport. Thales is responsible for identity verification and smart access control and Inetum the manual verifiers and real-time monitoring solution. “This technology eases passenger management at borders by verifying the traveler’s identity and travel documents, including biometric checks,” says Juan Carlos Crespo, Inetum’s deputy general manager for Iberia & Latam areas. “The new system ultimately speeds up the identification process.”
