The Technion in Israel, the Israeli Institute of Technology, and the Yale School of Management have received a financial gift to establish a three-year partnership to conduct homeland security and counter-terrorism research. The gift from Daniel Rose, chairman of Rose Associates, Inc., a New York real estate firm, will bring together researchers to explore strategic, tactical, and operational problems arising in the areas of homeland security and counter-terrorism with the aim of developing new tools for decision-making and policy analysis. Topics will focus on resource allocation of counter-terrorism assets, decision-making under uncertainty, the trade-off between human intelligence and technology, and exploring sophisticated data analysis techniques to identify the whereabouts of terrorists.
