Teledyne Technologies [TDY] on Tuesday said it has appointed JihFen Lei as the executive vice president of Teledyne FLIR Defense, a move that consolidates the company’s two defense businesses within a single segment and leadership team.

Lei will also continue to serve in her role as general manager of the Surveillance business within Teledyne FLIR Defense. David Cullin, who was the acting general manager for the Unmanned and Integrated Solutions business, is now vice president and general manager of UIS, reporting to Lei.

Cullin will also lead the development and integration of new cross-company technologies and solutions between Teledyne FLIR Defense and the Teledyne Digital Imaging segment.

Lei reports to Edwin Roks, executive vice president of Teledyne and president of the Teledyne Digital Imaging segment.

Before joining Teledyne in 2021, Lei served in the Defense Department as acting deputy under secretary of research and engineering. She also was director of NASA’s John Glenn Research Center.

Teledyne acquired FLIR Systems in May 2021, expanding its defense business with visual and thermal imaging systems, tactical ground robots, unmanned aircraft systems, and chemical, biological, nuclear, radiological and explosives detection sensors and systems.
