Teledyne FLIR Defense this week said it will supply its Cerberus XL mobile counter-drone surveillance system as part of a counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) package being put together by Norway’s Kongsberg for Ukrainian forces.
Teledyne FLIR Defense, part of Teledyne Technologies [TDY], said its $31 million contract includes delivery of the surveillance platforms and related software, spares, support, and training. Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace is working under a $71 million contract to the International Fund for Ukraine, which was established by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence and international partners to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s unprovoked invasion of the country.
Kongsberg said this month that the fund has ordered multiple C-UAS systems for donation to Ukraine. The systems include several of Kongsberg’s CORTEX Typhon systems that can shoot down a wide range of UAS, the company’s remote weapon station, and the CORTEX integrated combat solution.
The Norwegian government is also donating Dingo 2 vehicles, the RWS and weapons. The CORTEX Typhon is integrated on the Dingo, which will also tow the Cerberus platform.
The Cerberus XL includes a thermal/visual imaging system and radar to quickly locate and track UAS targets. The sensor data obtained by Cerberus is fed into Kongsberg’s remote weapons station to defeat the UAS.
Teledyne FLIR Defense also supplies Ukrainian forces with its Black Hornet 3 palm-sized nano-drone through donations made by the U.K. and Norwegian governments.
