TenCate Advanced Armor yesterday said it was selected as supplier to Daimler AG for ballistic protection of the Daimler Zetros protected transport trucks, due to be delivered to the German Bundeswehr.

No financial details were released about the work.

The state-of-the-art armor kits have been developed in close cooperation between Daimler and TenCate Advanced Armor.

Extensive protection of truck drivers and passengers is a key specification of the customer, TenCate said in a statement from Eurosatory in Paris. Elaborate design and testing work has been done by TenCate Advanced Armour to have the protective solution qualified for the Daimler Zetros truck. The work has resulted in a solution that fully satisfies the strict requirements on both protection level and weight as well as a number of secondary properties.

Steen Tanderup, managing director of TenCate Advanced Armor EMEA, said: “We are proud to be selected as supplier by an important customer such as Daimler. This cooperation is the result of our strategic development toward supplying large automotive customers. It is also the result of our continuous improvement of our organization to be able to supply the automotive industry with customized armor solutions”.
