The State Department approved a possible $26.9 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) request to Thailand for 16 Evolved Seasparrow Missiles (ESSM) and associated equipment, parts, and logistical support.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sale on Oct. 28.
The requested FMS would include major defense equipment (MDE) of 16 Evolved Seasparrow Missiles (ESSM) (14 tactical missiles and two telemetry missiles), three MK25 Quad Pack canisters, and 10 MK783 shipping containers. The sale would also include additional equipment; training; and technical services
The primary contractors would be Raytheon [RTN], BAE Systems, Saab AB, and Lockheed Martin [LMT].
Thailand would use the equipment the ESSMs to provide ship battlespace self-defense and firepower, improving its capability to meet current and future threats, DSCA said in a statement.
There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with the potential sale and implementation of the FMS would not require the assignment of additional U.S. government or contractor personnel.
