TransDigm [TDG] yesterday said it has acquired Aero-Instruments Co., LLC, for $35 million in cash, expanding its portfolio of sensors and components it supplies to the aerospace industry.

Cleveland-based Aero designs and manufactures air data sensors including pitot probes, pitot-static probes, static pressure ports, angle of attack, temperature sensors and flight test equipment primarily for the business jet and helicopter markets. More than 60 percent of the company’s sales come from the aftermarket and about 20 percent are military-related.

Aero has about 60 employees.
