The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Tuesday said it has added Telos Corp. [TLS] as its second enrollment provider for applicants seeking entry into the agency’s PreCheck trusted traveler program for aviation security.
IDEMIA has been the agency’s long-standing PreCheck enrollment provider under the Ident0GO brand. There are currently more than 15 million low-risk travelers in PreCheck.
Identity management services are a core offering of Telos through its IDTrust360 platform.
Telos is currently offering PreCheck enrollment services at 10 locations and plans to expand locations nationally.
“This expansion of enrollment providers will increase the network of locations where applicants may go to complete their TSA PreCheck membership,” TSA Administrator David Pekoske said in a statement.
PreCheck is a 10-year-old program that gives enrollees certain time-saving conveniences and benefits as they progress through an aviation security checkpoint, including keeping their shoes, belts and light jackets on and leaving their electronics and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in their carry-on bags. PreCheck members also typically pass through a walk-through metal detector instead of a body scanner.
IDEMIA and Telos are paid a portion of each enrollee’s fee for applying to PreCheck, which includes submitting biometric and biographic data. TSA charges applicants $78 new enrollees for a five-year enrollment period. Members can renew their memberships online with either company regardless of who they enrolled with initially.
