The U.S. Navy’s Naval Enterprise Networks (NEN) Program Management Office (PMW 205) released a third Request for Information (RFI) in preparation for the recompete of the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN-R) contract, the Navy and FedBizOpps said July 22.
The RFI is meant to help the office gain specific information on how industry could address problem statements in three areas: Navy private cloud, assured command and control & situational awareness, and productivity optimization. The NEN PMW is working on behalf of the entire Department of the Navy and the Marine Corps.
Responses, along with future potential discussions, aim to “to solidify the Navy Network Transformation initiative currently being developed and will be executed under the Navy’s NGEN contract as well as follow-on contract(s),” the Navy said in a statement.
The Navy earlier conserved awarding multiple contracts in the NGEN recompete rather than using a single contractor to run the network and noted the final acquisition strategy will not be completed until this fall.
Responses are due by Aug. 11 and the contract recompete award date is projected to be in 2018.
