U.S. Space Force Draft CASR Framework Calls for Pilot To Begin Next Month

Next month, the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) has planned to begin a pilot program for the Commercial Augmentation Space Reserve (CASR)--"to execute initial CASR pilot contract clauses with available funds," according to an Aug. 6 business notice. CASR will encompass pre-negotiated contracts with U.S.-owned firms and cleared U.S. subsidiaries of foreign companies to allow DoD to use commercial satellites during crisis or conflict in order to reduce the chance that an adversary could disable U.S. imagery, missile…
