URS Corp. [URS] June 4 said the company is part of a partnership with Capita plc, which has entered into 10-year, potential $670 million contract with the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD) to manage the U.K.’s national and international defense estate portfolio.

The partnership is led by U.K.-based Capita, working in conjunction with URS, headquartered in San Francisco, and U.K. firm PA Consulting.

As the strategic business partner for the Defense Infrastructure Organization (DIO), the partnership will lead the management and transformation of the United Kingdom’s national and international defense infrastructure.

It will build on existing plans to increase efficiencies, reduce running costs and deliver best value to U.K. taxpayers, while managing the provision of MoD training facilities and the allocation of housing for service personnel. The team will also assist in the rationalization of assets and deliver capital projects on behalf of the MoD.

Randall Wotring, president, Federal Services for URS, said: “We are pleased to be part of the partnership with Capita and PA Consulting and look forward to utilizing our expertise and broad capabilities to help the MoD reach its long-term strategic objectives. URS brings extensive experience in facilities and project management, infrastructure design and logistics to the partnership–both in the United States, for clients such as NASA and the departments of Defense and Energy, and internationally, for clients such as the U.K.’s Ministry of Justice, Department for Transport and Transport for London.”
