VeriTainer Corp., the developer of a crane-mounted radiation detection system called VeriSpreader, has received its first international patent protections for the technology in Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand. VeriTainer, which has filed for patents in a host of other countries with major port facilities, is ensuring its intellectual property is protected as other companies begin exploring crane-mounted radiation detection technology. Now with the patents in place in those countries, the company plans to market licensing arrangements in those jurisdictions. The new patents are based on two U.S. patents in crane-mounted radiation scanning. The VeriSpreader continues to go through operational evaluations at the Matson Howard Terminal at the Port of Oakland, Calif. So fare it has carried out over 35,000 lifts without failure.
